Spirit Day- Support LGBT Youth

Put on something purple. Change your facebook, twitter profiles to purple. Decorate your home with purple and support LGBT youth against bullying.

Millions of Americans wear purple on Spirit Day as a sign of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth and to speak out against bullying. Spirit Day was started in 2010 by teenager Brittany McMillan as a response to the young people who had taken their own lives. Observed annually on October 20, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, media professionals and celebrities wear purple, which symbolizes spirit on the rainbow flag. Getting involved is easy -- participants are asked to simply "go purple" on October 20 as we work to create a world in which LGBT teens are celebrated and accepted for who they are.

Gaydar, Older Brother Effect, Nurture- Do believe in any of these theories??

Do you think being the younger brother gives you a higher chance of being Gay? Does anyone still think its nurture? Is it genetics, environment externally or through pregancy? Do you believe in the theory of GayDar? Can we really tell who is and who isn't? There are some who believe that they have the best gaydar around and others who think that they wish that had more intuition. So is gaydar a true 6th sense or is it just another way of labeling someone based on stereotypes in someone behaviour? In this Youtube video 60 Minutes explores theses topics. Very Interesting.

Happy Victoria Day

Here is some facts regarding this public holiday courtesy of http://www.canadianheritage.gc.ca/progs/cpsc-ccsp/jfa-ha/victoria_e.cfm

The Sovereign's birthday has been celebrated in Canada since the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901).

May 24, Queen Victoria's birthday, was declared a holiday by the Legislature of the Province of Canada in 1845.

After Confederation, the Queen's birthday was celebrated every year on May 24 unless that date was a Sunday, in which case a proclamation was issued providing for the celebration on May 25.

After the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, an Act was passed by the Parliament of Canada establishing a legal holiday on May 24 in each year (or May 25 if May 24 fell on a Sunday) under the name Victoria Day.

The birthday of King Edward VII, who was born on November 9, was by yearly proclamation during his reign (1901-1910) celebrated on Victoria Day.

It was not an innovation to celebrate the birthday of the reigning sovereign on the anniversary of the birth of a predecessor. In Great Britain, the birthdays of George IV (1820-1830) and William IV (1830-1837) were celebrated on June 4, birthday of George III (1760-1820).

The birthday of King George V, who reigned from 1910 to 1935, was celebrated on the actual date, June 3 or, when that was a Sunday, by proclamation on June 4.

The one birthday of King Edward VIII, who reigned in 1936, was also celebrated on the actual date, June 23.

King George VI's birthday, which fell on December 14, was officially celebrated in the United Kingdom on a Thursday early in June. Up to 1947 Canada proclaimed the same day but in 1948 and further years settled on the Monday of the week in which the United Kingdom celebration took place. George VI reigned from 1936 to 1952.

The first birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, in 1952, was also celebrated in June.

Meanwhile, Canada continued to observe Victoria Day. An amendment to the Statutes of Canada in 1952 established the celebration of Victoria Day on the Monday preceding May 25.

From 1953 to 1956, the Queen's birthday was celebrated in Canada on Victoria Day, by proclamation of the Governor General, with Her Majesty's approval. In 1957, Victoria Day was permanently appointed as the Queen's birthday in Canada. In the United Kingdom, the Queen's birthday is celebrated in June.

The Royal Union Flag, commonly known as the "Union Jack" where physical arrangements allow, is flown along with the National Flag at federal buildings, airports, military bases and other federal buildings and establishments within Canada, from sunrise to sunset, to mark this day.

Physical arrangements means the existence of at least two flag poles; the Canadian flag always takes precedence and is never replaced by the Union Jack. Where only one pole exists, no special steps should be taken to erect an additional pole to fly the Union Jack for this special day.

Attached is a list giving the dates of the observance in Canada of the Sovereign's birthday since Queen Victoria.

Diva Drama

If you watched the Grammy last week, you would have heard Beyonce called Tina Turner the Queen. You would have also heard on the entertainment news that Aretha Franklin... the so called Queen of Soul was extremely upset by Beyonce's statement. So what is the big deal with Aretha? Don't get me wrong. I think that she is a great singer and that many other artists look at her as part of their own inspiration for being in the music industry. But what's with all this self righteousness she gives herself. When was her last hit?

What has she done that is so extraordinary that she feels so offended by another artist being given any type recognition of Queen? How many singers today are called a Diva? Should people like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Diana Ross be in an uproar by this? Aretha needs to relax. Tina Turner has been in the music industry for the same length of time as she has and has made many accomplishments throughout her career. Yet not the same amount of acknowledgement.

Perhaps Aretha feels offended because no one really notices her lately and in many ways considered the great of yesterday and not today. It's time to retire Ms Queen of Soul. And give some R.E.S.P.E.C.T to others!!

Diva in the Making

Well you know how we gay men love our Divas. We're captivated by the big hair, the big voice, good looks and of course the attitude. Well Leona Lewis, the winner from the British X-Factor may indeed become the next big Diva for the 21st century. I've been listening to cuts from her new CD that will soon be in North America and find that she has all the makings to become the next super star Diva. With the right management team, song selection and publicity, this Diva in the Making will become the next Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston for her generation. If you haven't heard her yet, than take a look, listen carefully and enjoy.

Breaking The Cycle

Why is it that some of us seem to always get into bad relationships. Or are unable to break the one that we are in when you know it's unhealthy. How do you break the cycle that becomes like a poison to us.

I recently read an interest article on this topic called "Are you addicted to Bad Relationships" read below. What are your thoughts?

It is not difficult to break bad relationship habits. Once you decide to let go off your clingy nature, healing will automatically come. Once you aim to heal your past and maintain healthy relationships, you will automatically stay away from associating with toxic people. Always try to keep your relationships healthy. People in healthy relationships grow together and don't stunt each other's progress. Learn to respect your individuality and give and take space. Sometimes we have to associate with negative people, but if you have a healthy self-esteem and courage to stand up for yourself, you won't be affected by such people. Thus, the first step towards breaking bad relationship habits is having a strong conception of your own identity. Often, we allow people into our lives who treat us as we expect to be treated. So, if you feel contempt for yourself or think very little of yourself, you may pick partners or significant others who reflect this image back to you. Learn to recognise such patterns in your life and pluck them off. There will be anger, resentment, hurt and pain. But, you will be breaking your psychological dependency on other people. Recovering from relationship addiction is a process of acknowledging and then letting go of pain, and finding ways to build a happy life.

Is She for Real

I know that this isn't a gay lifestyle topic. But every now and then I need to comment of things that are so unbelievable. Perhaps its all an act. But I believe that Kelly Pickler needs to either find a new management team or she really needs to get back to school. The stupid act is only funny for a very short period. But now you have to wonder if she is truly that stupid. Watch and laugh.

America's Brightest Showcasing Their Talent

">" border="0" alt="" />

And is there any doubt why a large percentage of students in USA have problem finding the country on a global map. How embarrassing for Miss South Carolina. This question was just too hard for her :-)

I'm sure that there is hope as the USA contains some of the top Ivey league schools in the world. There are many bright intellectuals that were educated in the USA and have gone to do many marvelous things. Unfortunately most of them aren't doing a beauty pageant. Therefore they should really reduce the difficulty level of the questions so that the contestants can sound as good as they look!

Another Good Movie.. Bourne Ultimatum

">" border="0" alt="" />

Summer is almost over and so are the big sequels.. thanks goodness. But if you're looking to see an sequel this summer that is actually good. See Matt Damon in Bourne Ultimatum. This action filled film will not disappoint unlike the other major studio releases this summer.

Just in case you lived in another universe and haven't heard of the film. Here is a brief description and the trailer pick.

All he wanted was to disappear; instead, Jason Bourne is now hunted by the people who made him what he is--legendary assassin. Having lost his memory and the one person he loved, he is undeterred by the barrage of bullets and a new generation of highly-trained killers. Bourne has only one objective: to go back to the beginning and find out who he was. Now, in the new chapter of this espionage series,
