Are You Ready for Spring/Summer Boyz- Series

The season has arrived and its time to get yourself off your butt. Get back into the gym (regularly), review your diet and go shopping for some new clothes. "Are You Ready for Spring/Summer Boyz" series will guide you through the steps to look and feel fabulous for the warm weather.

Fashion

First with some Fashion ideas! Why fashion first? Well at the end of the day, it's all about how you look in your clothes, regardless of how little you may have on. Spring is your prep season and summer is where is all comes together. The amount of clothing decreases as the season progresses therefore showing off all your hard work. So if you want to be styling this season you better get started. And the best way to ignite your engines is to see what the catwalk has in store for you!! So here are three designers to help you through your journey. All designs seem to have little middle eastern take away.

Armani:

Even though its spring, it doesn't mean that darker colours like gray and black need to be thrown back into the closet, no pune intended. But according to Armani's new men's spring/summer collection, a splash of red will brighten up that cloud of winter blue that you're trenching around.

Dolce & Gabbana:

Don't be afraid of a man purse that you carry in your hand and not on your shoulder. Some white with an accent of black and some rip jeans.. personally a little over done, and feels a bit 2 years or more ago.

Versace:

Hey the brighter colours of summer isn't all gone... well.. If you want to step away from the black essemble, Versace offers up some neutral colour, along with the gray, that may be more your style.

Fashion for a Good Cause

Gay Men’s Health Crisis, the Chelsea-based nonprofit that provides lifesaving services for men and women living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, held its third annual Fashion Forward gala on Mon., Nov. 16, to salute the fashion industry’s commitment to the cause.

Hosted by style consultant and “Project Runway” star Tim Gunn, the night included a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a runway show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue and featuring designs by Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs.

Proceeds from the event, held at the Metropolitan Pavilion on W. 18th St., went to support GMHC’s mission of providing prevention and care services to more than 15,000 New Yorkers affected by the disease.

Men's Fashion for the Fall/Winter 07-08

">" border="0" alt="" />
It's time again to start thinking of revising your wardrobe for the next season. Along with the video clip. Here are some basic tips courtesy of fibre2fashion

Everyone wants to look good. Especially when it comes to us guys. Unfortunately though, there are a good number of men out there who just plain and simply don't know how to dress. I'm as big of a fan of jeans and a t-shirt as the next guy but there are times when we need to dress up a little more and are required to wear dress pants and shirts. It's time for guys to wake up to the world of men's fashion.

Men's fashion is all about using permanent and classic styles. The first thing you need to do is assess your lifestyle. Maybe you wear a suit every day. Then buy several suits, not just one or two. Perhaps you work in a more business casual setting. The go shopping for khakis or jeans instead of suits. No matter what your job is, there are things you and every other guy out there should have in your closet.

Being well dressed and looking isn't hard work especially when you know the basic principles of men's fashion. These principles are short and easy to remember. Here's the list to keep in mind next time you're dressing up for work or that important dinner date.

No sneakers - The first rule to always remember when dressing for work is to never wear jeans or sneakers. I know there are many companies that allow you to wear jeans on Fridays. That's ok but stay away from sneakers. If you're worried about comfort while working on your feet all day then wear a pair of good fitting Italian loafers in a dark color. They are just as comfortable as sneakers and look much more stylish.

Wear a tie - Men's ties look good and should be worn a lot more around the office. Next time you have work, wear a tie as a fashion experiment. You won't believe your eyes with amount of respect you'll see that day and the amount of heads you'll turn. It doesn't matter what color the tie is or if it even goes with your shirt as long as it looks good, you'll look good. You will undoubtedly look more stylish wearing one than you would without. Try wearing different and unconventional colors. Try out ties that are bold, subtle, wild, or subdued with patterns. Even try one with stripes or dots, anything works.

Go formal - If you want to be a power player in the office, the type and color of your pants will play a big part in that. That is why you need to own couple of black, gray, khaki, and brown chinos. Then you can mix and match them with some nice formal shirts. There are some men who choose formality and propriety over comfort. You'll find them wearing traditional pleated straight cut pants of navy blue, military green look flattering. Some men like a nice flat front pants with a boot leg cut at the bottom too. Avoid shirts with prominent patterns. Subtle colors like beige in self-print work well. A good pin-stripped dress shirt never goes out of style.

Socks - Don't wear white socks to work. You're going to the office, not the gym. Wear a mixture of black and other dark colors.

Hair - Try to wear your hair neatly and to make sure its perfectly groomed use mousse or gel to make it last.

Cologne - You always need to look your best and smell your best. If you smell bad then no amount of expensive clothing is going to help you. Never mix up your scents and use the same brand of after-shave and cologne. This helps your fragrance last longer.

Open Toe Season

We all know that most of us like to wear our sandals and especially the flip flops in the summer. It's trendy, keeps our feet cool in the hot heat, easy to put on and take off and there are so many different styles to choose from.

But let's get serious, some of us, and you know who you are, really need to think about getting a pedicure. No one really wants to see overgrown toe nails, dry flaky skin or a very hairy foot. Just like you try to keep care of the rest of your body, it's just as important to take care of your feet.

I recently had my feet done and asked the Pedicurist to give me her professional opinion on male pedicure with respect to how often it should be done and why. She indicated that we only really need to get it done once to twice for the season. Since most guys don't wear heels (this is a gay blog, so some do) and our shoes are generally much more comfortable and less abrasive on our foot, if we kept our feet lotion, nails cut, and we should be able to maintain a good looking foot over the summer.

Getting the pedicure is a very relaxing experience. Generally included in the cost of the pedicure is a foot massage. This is a great feature especially if you are a runner or playing some sport that keeps you on your feet for a long period of time. It helps relieve tension in your feet, which ultimately will help reduce general stress.

Besides the cosmetic aspect taking care of your feet according to some non-traditional medicine, is said to have a great impact to your health. In a lot of spas that offer male pedicure they also offer a technique call Reflexology. Reflexology is a natural healing technique that activates the body's healing potential through the systematic application of pressure to points or "reflexes" on feet. Too read more about it. Queer Eye For the Gay Guy

Do you ever look at your partner or friend and wonder why they put those two colours together. Or perhaps why they decided to choose that particular pair of shoes or pant to wear. Do you ever feel like you need to give them a lesson in grooming 101? Yes it's very true, despite unversial belief, not ever gay man knows how to mix and match their clothes or develop a specifc style that defines them in a stylistic way.
Well here are some basic tips.

Issue:
Facial hair and eyebrows: For those who have wild eyebrows and facial hair

Soultion:
*Men should trim their eyebrows for a younger look. Brush the hairs up and use scissors to trim above the brow.
* Shaving cream helps lift up the root of the hair for a smoother shave. Always shave in the direction of hair growth to prevent in grown hairs.---courtesy of the show 10 Years Younger

Issue:
Casual dressing doesn't mean you need to look like you just came out of bed.

Solution:
In your wardrobe you should have a nice polo shirt, a part of premium demin jeans, o-ring belts, and flip flops/thongs and of course the sunglasses. Don't forget the casual blazer jacket to step up the outfit if you plan to head to dinner and want to look a little more dress with out loosing the casual feel.

Issue:
Face looking a little dull, pale or oily.

Solution:
It doesn't make you seem less masculine if you use a bit of skin care products. Get rid of the harsh bar soap.

A) Daily facial wash.. many great products out in the market. It will help improve complexion. Soap just deteriorate your face, doesn't cleanse as well and will age your appearance.

B) Moisturizer.. please use. If you see someone with flawless complexion (or at least great skin), ask them if they use moisturizer on their face. I bet you they will say Yes!. There are many product specific made for men. So don't be shy to walk down the cosmetic isle.
