David Testo, age 30, a pro soccer player for the Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps FC, came out of the closet to announce that he was gay. He decided to do so now as a result of the recent string of suicides among gay teenagers in sports. Testo said to The Globe and |Mail, “we have to change, and it’s always been my philosophy that you have to lead the change you want to see.” “I felt like it was almost my duty to say that this is okay.” Good on you Testo!!

Transgender In the House

How great is this! Anna Grodzka become the first Transgender to take seat in Poland house of parliament. At the age of 57, Ms. Grodzka is part of a newly formed liberal party called Palikot’s Support Movement, that stunned Poland’s staid political establishment by winning 10 percent of the vote in Sunday’s election. She is a women with a mission to bring awareness to the Poland country about people such as herself.

“My mission is to familiarize people with transgenderism,” Grodzka told Polsat News television.

“While making this decision I knew what to expect,” she added, referring to “various unpleasantnesses” she endured before and during the campaign.

"I decided to be a candidate for Palikot’s Movement because I want the voice of people who are excluded and discriminated against in the Polish political system to be heard,” she wrote in her blog. “I believe that little by little does the trick.”

They make mating calls to each other, groom each other, defend each other's territory and basically hang out together. A lot.

Spirit Day was started in 2010 by teenager Brittany McMillan as a response to the young people who had taken their own lives. Observed annually on October 20, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, media professionals and celebrities wear purple, which symbolizes spirit on the rainbow flag. Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy Gone

Finally the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy has been repeal and gays and lesbians on the US military can finally be out and proud. But does that mean its a perfect marriage now.

President Barack Obama signed the law last December and in July certified that lifting the ban will not diminish the military's ability to fight. Some in Congress remain opposed to repeal, arguing that it may undermine order and discipline.
Existing standards of personal conduct, such as those pertaining to public displays of affection, will continue regardless of sexual orientation.There will be no immediate changes to eligibility for military benefits. All service members are already entitled to certain benefits, such as designating a partner as a life insurance beneficiary or as a caregiver in the Wounded Warrior program

But if their partner happens to be a civilian they won't receive military health insurance or access to a support group. The training of Chaplains on ships to conduct same-sex civil unions in states where they are legal has been shelved after more than five dozen lawmakers objected.
So not a perfect marriage yet.

Nenshi was the first Calgary Mayor to lead Gay Pride parade. Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi posed for countless photos and shook hands with admirers before climbing onto the back of a red convertible to take his place as the city’s first mayor to lead the annual Gay Pride parade.

“I’m a little surprised at all the attention this has garnered,” Mr. Nenshi, who was elected almost a year ago for a first term as mayor, said Sunday.

Even though urinary infections in men, especially boys and young men, are less common than in women, it is still important to recognize the symptoms and get treatment quickly. Infections of the urinary system (the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra) can be very serious - even life threatening.

Function of the urinary system
The function of the urinary system is to rid the body of liquid waste (about a quart and a half per day of urine) keep a healthy balance of substances and salts in the blood and produce a hormone that contributes to the formation of red blood cells. The flow of urine helps prevent infection by washing out infections. The prostate gland also produces fluids that slow bacterial growth.

Causes of urinary tract infection (UTI)
Urine is normally sterile but under certain circumstances bacteria, often E-coli that live in the colon, moves into the urethra causing an infection called urethritis. The infection may move up the system to the bladder, called cystitis, or to the kidneys, pyelonephritis.

Micro organisms called chlamydia and mycoplasma can both be transmitted sexually. When this happens both partners have to be treated for the infection.

Men with abnormalities of the urinary tract, such as kidney stones or an enlarged prostate, are more prone to urinary infection.

Men who have a catheter or tube placed in the bladder are more susceptible to infection.

Men with diabetes or any disease that suppresses the immune system are more prone to UTI.

Why can't people just leave us alone? New York, a popular destination for a lot of homosexuals, finally got marriage legalized. It’s one of 6 states that now allow gays and lesbians to get married. But of course you will have some jerk out there doing his best to have the decision reverse.

NY Senator Ruben Diaz a.k.a Asshole is threatening to commence a law suit base on the fact that when you register to be married, you need to wait 24 hours before you can get married.

Speaking at the "Let the People Vote" rally Sunday, Diaz said he will file a lawsuit in the New York court system next week to challenge the judicial waiver that allowed same-sex couples to marry on the same day of the marriage license application.

The Bronx senator, who was the only Democrat to vote against the gay marriage bill, argued that the hundreds of gay marriages that took place on Sunday were illegal because the same-sex couples did not wait the mandated 24 hours before marrying.

"When a couple registers for a marriage license they are supposed wait 24 hours before actually getting married," Diaz told The Christian Post. "This is illegal and criminal."

New York's gay marriage law took effect Sunday, 30 days after it was passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

To celebrate the first day that gay marriages were allowed in New York, city officials had provided a special judicial waiver to same-sex couples so they would be able to marry without waiting 24 hours after filing for a marriage license.

Diaz said the waiver was not legal because there are no emergencies that constitute such a waiver. He explained there are only three reasons a waiver should go forth, according to domestic law.

"The three reasons are if the state has an emergency, if one partner is facing immediate death or if there is a severe financial emergency that the couple is facing," Diaz explained to the crowd of over 5,000 at the gay marriage protest Sunday.

Where is my due rag, my bling around my neck, my pants down to my ankles. Oh yeah, I better not forget I need to be on the down low. Bring my ghettoness on!

Why all of a sudden that every black gay guy needs to reflect a imagine of being a Thug for them to be considered black enough in the gay community? Coming out in downtown Toronto many years ago, I struggle to find imagines of gay men of dark complexion in the mainstream gay publications that reflected them as being hot. Now I find several dark skin men in the mainstream publications. But almost 99% of them reflect that Thug imaginary.

I can definitely understand the bad boy appeal. Regardless of what ethnic background, we all have the fantasy of the guy that comes from the wrong side of the fence. On the same note, we also see that boy next door as a imagine that is also considered hot, but for some reason not for black men.

Gay men love to have their pornographic fantasies become reality by finding that guy the has the body and the attitude that we see on porn. Unfortunately the only imaginary that you really see of black men in porn is that of the ‘Thug’. It doesn’t matter if he is shy, aggressive, top or bottom. He will be that Thug, dress top to bottom.

Don’t get me wrong. I have no issues with anyone who loves their man being the ‘Thug’ or guys that present themselves in that way. It is hot in many ways. But there is a different reality of just being the ‘thug in bed’ versus being the ‘thug in life’. Black men are hot regardless if they’re the bad boy from the other side of the fence. The sweet boy living beside your house. The top or bottom, the preppy dressing conservative liberal type, whatever. Thug isn’t the only beauty or the only thing that reflects being black. Our skin does that on its own.
If you want Thug outside of the bedroom, then go for Thug. But don’t expect or think every black men are truly a Thug inside waiting for you to release.

NEW DELHI — India's health minister has derided homosexuality as an unnatural "disease" from the West, drawing outrage Tuesday from activists who said the comments set back the country's campaign for gay rights and its fight against HIV.

The comments Monday by Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad at a conference on HIV/AIDS in the Indian capital echoed a common refrain in the conservative South Asian nation that homosexuality is a Western import.

"Unfortunately this disease has come to our country too ... where a man has sex with another man, which is completely unnatural and should not happen, but does," Azad said.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi and a slew of government ministers were also present at the conference. There was no immediate comment from the health ministry, and the prime minister's office refused to discuss the Azad's remarks.

Anjali Gopalan, who heads the NAZ Foundation, a rights group that works with HIV positive people and promotes equal rights for homosexuals, said Azad's comments were deeply troubling coming from the health minister of a country fighting a tough battle against HIV infections.

"These comments help no cause. It's definitely not going to help in our fight against HIV," she told The Associated Press.

Roughly 2.5 million Indians have HIV, making it the country with the largest number of people living with the virus in Asia.

Experts say the marginalization of gay people keeps them isolated and makes it harder for HIV/AIDS awareness messages to reach them.

"If you're not going to invest in community building then gay people will continue to be marginalized," Gopalan said.

In 2009, the Delhi High Court struck down a colonial era law — Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code — that made sex between people of the same gender punishable by up to 10 years in prison. While actual criminal prosecutions were rare, the law was frequently used to harass people.

The court ruling was noteworthy in a country where even heterosexual sex is rarely discussed openly.

Over the last decade homosexuals have slowly gained a degree of acceptance in a few parts of India, especially its big cities. Many bars have gay nights, and some high-profile Bollywood films have dealt with gay issues. The last two years have also seen large gay pride parades in New Delhi and other big cities such as Mumbai and Kolkata.

Still, being gay remains deeply taboo in most of the country, and many homosexuals hide their sexual orientation from friends and families.

"How can the health minister say something so unscientific and irrational?" Nitin Karani, a gay rights activist told a television new channel. "He needs to apologize immediately or he needs to go."

This is not the first time Azad's words have embarrassed the government.

A few years ago, he suggested Indians watch more late night television instead of having sex as a means to stem population growth in the nation of 1.2 billion people.

Should Mayor Rob Ford participate in the Pride Parade ?

Well I'm sure it comes to no one’s surprise that Mayor Rob Ford may be the first Mayor in years not to march in the annual pride parade. He hasn't been a strong advocate of the community and certainly didn't look for the people in the community to elect him. So why should he participate in the pride parade?

Should he participate in the parade because it’s a major event in the city the draws in people from all over North America and brings in millions of dollars to the city?

Should he participate because the parade represent the open mindedness and the diversity the city is well known for, ethnic pride, gay pride, religious pride, that any Mayor would be proud to be a part of?

Should he participate because its good public relations? Regardless of the fact that most people in the community may have not voted for him. This is a great opportunity to show as Mayor of a multi facet diverse city, that he represents everyone. As people expect from any Mayor of any city.

Should he participate because he would probably just have a good time, of course!

To the question 'Should Mayor Rob Ford participate in the Pride Parade'? The answer should be NO.

The participants in the parade represent individuals who are proud of who they are and along with friends and family want to be there. Why would you want anyone who doesn't want to be there, participating?

He has made it clear in his actions that he doesn't want to be personally involved in any of the activities during pride week. It's not a priority of his; he's not a strong supporter of the community. Participating wouldn't represent much, except pressure from the people to be there.

Is It a Revolving Door or True Bisexuality

Are you bisexual? Do you know someone who is bisexual? Do you believe that someone can be bisexual? I've had this discussion with many of my friends, both straight and gay. And I always get mix responses. I’m not 100% sure myself what my opinion is on the subject. However, I can't talk to the subject of bi females, but in regards to men, the one question that comes up is "can a man who considers himself a bottom, truly be bisexual? Or is it just more acceptable in their circle of friends and family?"

The closet door or the phrase 'coming out of the closet', is a metaphor indicating that you are now out about your sexual preference, the preference being for the sole desire to meet a mate of the same sex, hence coming out of the closet. The closet door is like your front door of your home. The gateway to the inner chamber of what is really going on, appose to what is presented in public. It can be locked from the inside and can be locked from the outside using a key. When we decide to come out the closet, as the saying goes, we begin by unlocking the door from the inside, stepping out, closing the door behind, relocking the door with the key and then throwing the key away. Therefore start the beginning of a new life, braving the new challenges ahead, never to go back in the closet.

Those who considered themselves as bi, curious, experimental, etc, is the process all the same, except they forget to throw away the key? Or perhaps they forget to lock the door, throw away the key, therefore leaving the closet accessible when needed, making it a revolving door? So for that excessive bottom guy, who loves to be penetrated, deep, hard and long, as the saying goes, by a male’s penis and doesn’t want to top another guy, but claims to be bisexual, are you?

On Tuesday, Alex Freyre and José María Di Bello, who met three years ago at a conference on HIV, will make history and divide a continent as they become Latin America's first gay married couple.

The ceremony will be a tribute to their determination as well as their love for each other, after a bitter three-year campaign which has divided a city, outraged Argentina's powerful Roman Catholic church and overturned the constitution.

Freyre and Di Bello's forthcoming nuptials have been debated on television, in churches and on the street. Hostile posters can be found on billboards across the city. But, in Di Bello's words, nothing can now prevent him and his partner becoming "husband and husband".

Not surprisingly, the marriage is already being hailed by equality activists as a significant triumph against the odds in a traditionally macho society. Argentina – and Latin America in general – is not known for a tolerance of sexual diversity, and violence against gays is an everyday occurrence.

"This marriage is bigger than José María and I," Freyre told the Observer. "It is a victory for all who face prejudice and discrimination across Latin America and the Caribbean. It is proof that at last the grip of the Catholic church is slipping across Latin America, the system that has kept gay communities silent and fearful is crumbling. What is happening on Tuesday is a strike against those attitudes that have repressed sexual rights across this continent for too long."

Gay Men’s Health Crisis, the Chelsea-based nonprofit that provides lifesaving services for men and women living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, held its third annual Fashion Forward gala on Mon., Nov. 16, to salute the fashion industry’s commitment to the cause.

Hosted by style consultant and “Project Runway” star Tim Gunn, the night included a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a runway show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue and featuring designs by Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs.

Proceeds from the event, held at the Metropolitan Pavilion on W. 18th St., went to support GMHC’s mission of providing prevention and care services to more than 15,000 New Yorkers affected by the disease.

The World Health Organization and the U.N. agency UNAIDS said the results "instilled new hope" in the field, even though it likely will be years before a vaccine might be widely available.

"This is truly a great moment for world medicine," said Lt. Gen. Eric Schoomaker, the U.S. Army Surgeon General. The Army helped sponsor the study, the world's largest of an AIDS vaccine.

It was the first time scientists tried preventing HIV the same way they treat it — with a combination approach. The study used two vaccines that work in different ways, and that may be one reason the strategy worked, even though neither vaccine did when tested individually in earlier trials, scientists say.

Bristol, not the first place that many think of going to on a gay vacation, represents the largest gay village in southwest England. The gay stripe is located on Old Market street just a walk away from the City Center. The stripe contains several pubs and small clubs for a variety of taste or fetishes.The best way to check out the status of a gay village in comparison to others is to see it on a Saturday in the day and in the evening time.

Despite the repetition of Bristol gay village in this region, the stripe lacks any real vibe in the day time. No patios to mingle and eye watch at brunch and most places are close. The ones that are open have little to offer and you are left with a feeling that the town is still in the closet. This is a pity as Bristol in this area has a high tourist attraction and a university near by with lots of summer students. When the weather is nice, which is a luxury in England, having some great patios to go to would be a great way to pass the day.

The nightlife is full of places to go to and meet new and interesting people. The clubs are full of people of all ages, background, body shape etc. It seems to lack the snobbiness that you would find in a lot of gay clubs in Toronto. There is the Flamingo, which is major dance club there, the Lounge which is a nice semi-leather pub. There also the Palaces, which is a club that is attended primarily by the 30 something and above crowd.

MOMENTUM IS building for a repeal of the ban on gay men and lesbians serving openly in the military. A proposal from the Palm Center of the University of California at Santa Barbara in May ignited calls for President Obama to issue a "stop-loss" declaration to halt enforcement of "don't ask, don't tell." Last week, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) proposed suspending the 16-year-old policy for 18 months. But both approaches pale in comparison with the full repeal being pursued by Rep. Patrick J. Murphy (D-Pa.).
The rationale for quick, stop-gap solutions is understandable. Ready, willing and able troops (nearly 13,000 men and women since 1993) are being drummed out of the military because of their sexual orientation. "Don't ask, don't tell" was a wrongheaded compromise when it was instituted.

Dozens of HIV vaccines have already been developed and tested in animal models but only a handful have been tested in humans, none successfully.(Canadian Press)

"It is a very important milestone for us," said Yong Kang, a professor of microbiology at the University of Western Ontario in London who has been working on the vaccine for 20 years.
Kang said he expects to get the go-ahead soon from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to begin human toxicology tests and two phases of clinical trials in the United States.
If all three trials are successful, the vaccine should be available within the next decade, Kang told CBC News on the phone while attending a meeting in South Korea.
According to a 2008 United Nations report on the global AIDS epidemic, 33 million people were living with HIV in 2007. Two million people died of causes related to the disease that year.
Dozens of HIV vaccines have already been developed and tested in animal models, but few have been tested in humans, none successfully. A promising trial in 2007 by pharmaceutical giant Merck and Co. was shut down after those receiving the vaccine contracted HIV at a higher rate than those who received the placebo.
Kang has partnered with a Curacom, a South Korean holding company, that has agreed to open an office in London, Ont., to help fund research in Kang's lab and commercialize the vaccine.
A test vaccine is being manufactured in a lab in Maryland near Washington, D.C.
Lab tests showed the vaccine produced no adverse effects or safety risks during immunology tests on animals.
The toxicology tests are expected to include 40 to 50 HIV-positive volunteers in the U.S., and will be designed to test whether the vaccine is toxic in humans.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Six gay men were shot dead by members of their tribe in two separate incidents in the past 10 days, an official with Iraq's Interior ministry said.

In the most recent attack, two men were killed Thursday in Sadr City area of Baghdad after they were disowned by relatives, the official said.

Well the recent turmoil in Madonna's personal life i.e. divorce, younger man as a new "buddy", probably didn't help much in her pursue of adopting another Malawi orphan. This time the around the judge was courts were sticking to the rules of adoptions in the country, unlike the first time when she adopted David Banda. Here is the details from BBC News.

Failing to prove her love apparently, a Malawi court has shot down the Material Mom's request to adopt a second child from the African nation, chalking up the denial to the fact that Madonna did not meet a simple residency requirement.

Acording to the BBC, a Malawi judge has ruled that Madonna would not be adopting 3-year-old oprhan Chinfundo "Mercy" James because she has not lived in the country from anywhere between 18 and 24 months as stipulated under adoption rules.

"I must have to decline to grant the application to Madonna," judge Esmie Chondo said in a ruling following the closed-door proceeding on Friday.

While the court apparently overlooked that fact when the Queen of Pop gained custody of 3-year-old David Banda and swept him off to London back in 2006. This time around, perhaps aware of the controversy the first adoption sparked among activists who felt Madonna and ex-hubby Guy Ritchie had wrongly skirted guidelines, Malawi officials followed their own law to the letter in denying young David a sister.

Judge Esme Chombo subsequently rejected her petition, pointing out that the 50-year-old singer divides her time miles away from Malawi between homes in New York or London.

The judge expressed concern that by allowing Madonna to bypass their own requirements and "removing the very safeguard that is supposed to protect our children, the courts by their pronouncements could actually facilitate trafficking of children by some unscrupulous individuals."

Chombo also argued that Madonna's good works with the orphanage will still benefit Mercy since she currently resides there.

"It is evident that Chifundo James no longer is subject to the conditions of poverty at her place of birth," the judge said.

No word whether the "Hung Up" crooner will appeal.

Madonna arrived in Malawi last week to visit her orphanage, see "Mercy," and take young David to see his biological father in order to keep him in touch with his Malawi roots. She filed her adoption request on Monday, stating that the girl's grandmother was unable to properly care for her and seeking custody to give her a better life free from "hardship and emotional trauma."

She was not present however when the court handed down its decision.

Eluana Englaro, the Italian woman at the centre of a right-to-die debate, has died, the health minister has said.

Maurizio Sacconi made the announcement during a debate in Italy's Senate over an emergency government decree to stop doctors withdrawing her life support.

Ms Englaro, 38, had been in a vegetative state since being injured in a car crash in 1992.

Doctors at a private clinic in the northern city of Udine had been withholding her food since Friday.

They had earlier said Ms Englaro might live for another two weeks.

Ms Englaro's father, Beppino, had been battling with the courts in Italy to let his daughter die since 1999, insisting it was her wish.

Italy's centre-right Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi drafted a decree last week to prevent doctors from letting her die, but President Giorgio Napolitano refused to sign it.

The government's move sparked fury among centre-left opposition politicians, who accused it of trying to exploit the case.

Ms Englaro was previously cared for at a church-run hospital in Lecco, but was transferred to La Quiete clinic in Udine last week, after it said it would receive her and allow her to die.

The Vatican described the transfer as "abominable" and tantamount to murder.

Italy does not allow euthanasia. Patients have a right to refuse treatment, but they are not allowed to give advance directions on the treatment they wish to receive if they become unconscious.

Well she is certainly making a splash this weekend with all of her appearances at the major music shows. First Clive Davis Pre-Grammy awards party, where she actually performed. Yes you her me right, she actually performed on American soil. Today she presented the first award at the Grammys and tomorrow BET will air the BET Awards where she will appear as a presenter. So the question is when is the album coming out?

Well we all know that her voice isn't the same as it use to be. But it's still better then the majority that are out there now. As well you can always count on a live performance, which seems to be a dying breed with the new crop of young artists.

Whitney looks great, healthy, happy and ready to sing again. Glad to see a legend get back up on her feet after seemingly falling. Leaving the past behind and looking straight ahead into the future.

Is It A Dawn of a New Era or Just to Much to Expect?

There are many hopes and expectations with the swearing in of this President of the United States. President Barack Obama will carry a heavy weight on his shoulders like no other previous President in the past. Marked with historical parallels of Lincoln and King, Obama carries the hope of a nation for a better and improved country. In many eyes he is their savoir, he is the one who revitalized their economy, open up doors for those who felt they were secretly close regardless of regulations, etc due to their ethnic,sex or sexual background. He is the one who will re-establish the USA repretation in the World. He is the one who will bring a brand new day.
Well the role of the President of the United State is already a heavy job to take on and there are always high expectations for the new incoming President to be better then the one previously. I believe that Obama, regardless of how inspiring he is, will at least, if any set the foundations/point the country into a new era of greatness. Perhaps redine greatness that isn't necessarily about military strength, but one that enhances the domestic front. The new era may not be about world domination via firearms, but a country that has become more prosperous and unified. Like any new candidate that takes on a new role, with the conviction of enhancing and improving on what was there before, will always fast many unforseen challenges. Some of which will delay or perhaps stop many of the goals that were idealistically set out prior to actually taking on the job. Time will only tell what can be accomplish in 4 yrs and perhaps many second term making it 8yrs in total.

Well it's a new year with new beginnings, new challenges and new rewards. I guess that's what its all about. Each New Year thousand of people make many resolutions of various promises to themselves about what they plan to do this year. The big "New Year's Resolution".

Well the biggest one is getting into shape. How many people do you know who have said that they're going to go on a diet, lose 10, 20, 30 lbs. You head into the gym in the month of January and its pack. Everyone dying to lose that holiday weight from over stuffing himself or herself. All the "New Year's Resolutionist" trying to keep good to their promise. In a few weeks for some reason a good portion of them disappear from the gym. Either they have met their goals and have decided to stop or they have just given up. Most likely given up. And you will see them next January doing the same thing.

Getting into shape and becoming healthier isn't just about losing a few pounds, but it’s about modifying your life-style to be better balance. So that you can a obtain a better state of wellness in your life. That includes exercise, healthier eating, finding a better balance between work and play. To help reduce stress, which tends to leads or at least acts as a main indicator in an unbalance life.

I think the "New Year's Resolutionist" that have decided to lose a few pounds and have a healthier life should start off by finding a good wellness program. I recently caught an episode of the Martha Stewart Show where they were discussing their wellness program campaign that started this week. They have a good easy to follow program that really emphasizes life-balance. I would recommend it. It can be found through there Body and Soul magazine section called Whole Living.

Also for those gym bunny. I suggest taking on a Yoga class. I recently took up Yoga with a very close friend and found that it not only was a good form of exercise that did provide some strength training, but it was also a good therapeutic approach on incorporating wellness in your life through the commentary that the teacher provide. There are many types of yoga style out there and I'm sure there is one suited for you. The style that I have taking on is called Axel Molema hatha yoga excellent class and teacher. I recommend it.

OTTAWA - Stephane Dion quit as Liberal leader Monday as his party's MPs ramped up the debate about how to pick a permanent chief without waiting for a leadership convention next spring.

Dion resigned hours before New Brunswick MP Dominic LeBlanc quit the race to succeed him, leaving only Michael Ignatieff and Bob Rae in what most Liberals now want to be a much-shortened leadership contest.

But the party is divided about the best way to find a permanent leader before Parliament resumes Jan. 26.

The new leader will have to make several key decisions very quickly, particularly whether to continue with the Liberal-NDP coalition deal that Dion brokered.

Rae has been a vocal supporter of the coalition; Ignatieff is said to be less enthusiastic.

With Dion resigning and LeBlanc quitting the race, there could now be increasing pressure on Rae to fold his tent. But while Rae concedes that it would be best to have a permanent replacement for Dion in place when Parliament returns, he was fighting any moves to short-circuit some sort of vote or consultation with the party's grassroots.

Thirty years after the assassination of Harvey Milk, the first openly-gay elected official, Focus Pictures has released Milk, an effective, if long overdue biopic of the slain official. The new film stars Sean Penn in the title role, and the Oscar buzz started long before its release.

For those who aren’t familiar with the story, Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977, and led the gay rights movement in that city. He was a business owner, running a small camera store in the Castro district, which is still a major American gay mecca. He served in his post for eleven months before being gunned down by a fellow former Supervisor who had just killed San Francisco Mayor George Moscone moments earlier.

The film succeeds on many levels, most notably with Penn’s performance. He is so absorbed by the character, that it’s easy to forget that we’re watching an actor, not the real man. What’s more, the supporting actors were all at their best, each one taking on a special role in the film.

After a historical election it's so sad to see that people still don't get it. After years of demanding equality for themselves b/c of being discriminated for their skin colour, being considered a minority in their own country, a great majority still feels its okay to discriminate against others. Even though the vote was driven by the message of 'change', some truly can't.
I'm black and gay. It was nice to see after so long that the US was able to elect a black man to the white house (which I think the name should change). It truly gave hope to many. But I'm angry that my fellow Black and Latino brothers and sisters can't seem to grasp the understanding that discrimination is discrimination. You take one step forward and then another step back. Terrible!!

The relationship of Ferda and Kiymet is one of the few light moments in "A Jihad for Love," Parvez Sharma's documentary about homosexuality in the Muslim world. The two Turkish women laugh and touch in public, and in a poignant scene, Kiymet meets Ferda's 80-year-old mother. The introduction goes well, and the three women sit together and joke about life and love.

This kind of normality is absent in the lives of Sharma's other characters, most of whom have had to make wrenching choices between pursuing love and remaining within the embrace of traditional societies. Payam, a gay man who fled persecution in Iran, calls his mother from a phone booth in Turkey to update her on his hope of political asylum in Canada. He can hear her weeping -- which makes him break down.

"She said she was cutting onions but I could tell she was crying," he tells his friends, who try to comfort him.

Payam shows his face in the film, which was produced by Sandi Simcha DuBowski, the director of "Trembling Before G-d," a 2001 documentary that focused on homosexuality among Orthodox Jews. Amir, another young man who fled Iran, keeps his face hidden, but we do see his lacerated back, covered in red stripes after he was lashed for being gay.

What did you think of Obama's Acceptance Speech?

I enjoyed Obama speech. It was what I expected. He is a good speaker and the audience seemed to really respond to him. I know it will be a hard race for the white house. But I hope that people who supported Hillary b/c she is a woman (not necessarily b/c of her politics) doesn’t turn their votes to McCain b/c of his running mate. But stay smart and recognize that change in the right direction will come more from a democrat then the republican. Yes it would have been nice to see Obama with a female running mate. But I believe that Biden is an excellent choice that compliments him well.

Barack in his speech also mention about the rights of gay and lesbians. I hope to heard more throughout his campaign regarding this issue.

For McCain. I knew that he was going to pick a female running mate. I believe that McCain is betting on that. And this was one of his reasons for his running mate selection.

DUBAI -- 17 foreign men were detained Wednesday in this gulf tourist for allegedly being gay and wearing women's clothes in public, News.com.au reports.

The arrests are part of a months-long campaign that police said is aimed at "protecting and preserving the country's social values and traditions," Khaleej Times reports.

Colonel Khalil Al Mansouri, Deputy Director of General Department of Criminal Investigation in Dubai Police, told Khaleej Times that those arrested have been referred to Public Prosecution on charges of cross-dressing and indulging in immoral acts.

As many as 41 men and women have been arrested since May and charged with cross-dressing according to Khaleej Times. A senior police official told Dubai's Gulf News say that the arrested foreigners would be deported soon.

Among those arrested are Asians and some Europeans. Most of the arrests were made at shopping malls and public places.

The visitors were arrested after police launched a campaign against transvestites last May. Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief, had said then that transvestites were frequently being spotted in public places. "This is against the UAE's traditions and social values," he had warned.

The campaign was launched jointly by Tamim, and several government departments following what local papers say is "a visible trend of men dressing as women and vice versa."

Col. Al Mansouri said the campaign will continue until after Ramadan and warned people that action would be taken against those indulging in cross-dressing.

Violators would be summarily deported and life ban slapped on them, according to Khaleej Times.

Dubai Police have deployed special CID teams, including women personnel, to combat the growing phenomenon.

The trend is also noticeable among men and women working in beauty salons. Sponsors of such commercial establishments have been warned against employing such people.

Police authorities have also urged the Ministry of Social Affairs to conduct a study and identify the reasons behind the emerging trend. The study would focus on psychological, social and educational aspects, Col. Al Mansouri said.

He said that Dubai Police officers have contacted the families of national students who were found involved in such behaviour. A questionnaire has also been distributed in schools to raise awareness against the trend.

Meanwhile, Col. Jasim Khalil Mirza, Director of Security Awareness Department in Dubai Police, said although cross-dressers may be from different countries and cultures, but those who come to the UAE should respect the country's laws and social and religious values.

So who will win gold for the best body torso in the swimming competition. Aiming for Gold this year is Gerhard Zandberg of South Africa, who took the gold in the 50m world champions. Yummy! I really enjoy the various water sports, especially the fast pace 50m, 100m, 200m and relay events. I can be a bit of a traditionalist at times and generally prefer the men to stay with the standard speedo. No need for the technically advance full body bathing trunk. The natural raw power of the male form is the fairest competition. I'm sure any marketing executive of the television networks or the Publicist of the athlete would agree. Don't you? Plus wouldn't you want to show off all your hard work!

I've always enjoy watching the summer Olympics. There are a few sports that I enjoy the most, track and swimming. I enjoy it not only for the competitiveness that is usually so hyped by the media. But just for the fun at looking at some of those male bodies.

The three-pronged attack on the Olympic 100-metre gold medal is a rare and mouth-watering treat.

Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay. Almost before you can say the three names, these men can run 100 metres. Bolt holds the world record at 9.72 seconds. He displaced Powell, who ran 9.74 last year, a performance motivated in a large part by his disappointment at his loss to Gay in the world championships.

Gay won the 100 at the US Olympic trials in 9.68. He had more than twice the maximum wind assistance allowed for world record purposes, but his run was the fastest 100 metres recorded under any conditions.

Gay is also the reigning world champion, having taken the sprint double in Osaka last August. But he won't be running that event in Beijing after pulling up with a hamstring injury during the trials.

The 2008 Fringe Festival is closely approaching. It's a wonderful opportunity to go see many local artists put on a self produce show.
The Fringe is Toronto 's largest theatre festival. In 2008 it will host over 800 artists from Ontario , Canada and around the world, with over 135 unique productions in more than 25 venues. Productions range from dramas to musical extravaganzas to improv and will take place in local theatres as well as in unusual spots: playgrounds, parking lots and more.

One artist's performance that is a must see is Thomas Corless. The last time he appeared in the Fringe festival was in 2002 with his debut production called Wonder Toy, that got great reviews from Xtra. This year he returns in his new production call Travel or Entertain?, a provocative and intimate look at the gay online chat world. You don't want to miss this rare performance from this talent artist.

Thomas Corless is a writer/performer from Toronto, Ontario and is the Artistic Director of Cute Guy Productions. His first exposure to theatre came in 2000 when he was part of the Summer 2000 Youth Arts Programme at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. The project brought together 12 queer youth who learn about visual arts and theatre with a queer slant for one summer, culminating in a theatrical presentation at the end of their eight-week program.

Travel or Entertain? is the second production of this up-and-coming company. Thomas Corless explores the world of gay online hook-ups and dating. It's a mix of chats, monologues and stand-up. Playing realistic and relatable characters, Corless details the ups and downs of online life: the joys of a hot sexual encounter, the pain of a one-sided attraction, the egos of the unattainable and the desperation of the lonely.

Coming Out Mid-Age

Coming out of the closet is a very emotional journey with several highs and lows. Many who have come out to their friends and family at a young age have faced many difficulties with acceptance and rejection from others. But coming out at 19 when your unmarried, no kids and truly just about to start your adult life, is far different than at the age of 40 when your whole life has been built around a image that isn't true to who you are. The stacks are higher in many ways.

Imagine being married for several years, having kids, establishing your social network around a heterosexual life (work, friends, etc). Trying to either subdue your true sexual feelings, live a double life with a secret same sex friend, having secret encounters or just denying yourself, can be an emotional burden. Imagine after all this time you decide that you will tell the truth. This almost seems a recipe for a mid-life crisis- disaster. You're not 19 anymore. Life is completely different. I know a few gentlemen who have gone through this situation and have informed me that it can be a very challenging time in ones life. But the overall result is the freedom of having a more honest life.

When I was reviewing the Google news on my blog. I read an article referring to this subject focusing on a father's coming out to his family. I thought that I would make this post to highlight the article, In the Name of the Father

When Jonathan's middle daughter gets married this year, he won't be walking her down the aisle. Jonathan's children, two girls and a boy, don't talk to him anymore. The uneasy peace brokered after Jonathan came out to his family in 2000 after 25 years of marriage, was severed nine months ago when his children found out that Jonathan had quietly wed his much younger lover.

"When my partner and I decided to get married, I didn't want to rub salt into the wound," says Jonathan. "They found out, as did my ex-wife, through mutual friends. So now I have a situation where my kids are in a real standoff that I withheld something from them. Not that they would have said, 'Good for you.'"

Despair creeps into Jonathan's voice as he wonders whether his ties to his children can ever be rehabilitated. Over the past several months, he has received letters from his adult children indicting his fathering skills, questioning his character, and asking him to stay out of their lives. "I'm basically shut out," he says.

Time for a Change Jamaica!!

is a beautiful country with a wonderful cultural heritage and considered one of the premier Caribbean travel destinations. Tourism is a major foreign exchange earner for the country. If you randomly went around asking people what they thought of Jamaica as a travel destination, they would most likely indicate that they have visit there on vacation or would love to travel there one day. So you would think it would be more tourist friendly, especially for homosexual. Gay and Lesbian love to travel and spend lots of money. But we need to feel comfortable and safe in our surroundings.

isn't exactly 'Gay Friendly'. Basically it’s not friendly at all to homosexuals. It's has the worst record on Gay and Lesbian treatment in the New World. Its newly elected Prime Minister has openly expressed his arrogant views in the media. They still have a sodomy law in which the punishment is 10 years in jail. I can't imagine living there and being Gay or Lesbian. So I can't imagine traveling there for a holiday with a partner or other homosexuals.

(London) Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding is being blasted at home and in London for remarks he made about gays and lesbians during an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation.

Golding condemned Britain and other Commonwealth countries for criticizing the treatment of gays in the Caribbean nation.

''Jamaica is not going to allow values to be imposed on it from outside,'' he said during the interview. Golding is in London on an official visit to the UK.

Asked if he would ever appoint an openly gay person to his cabinet the Prime Minister bristled, saying "never". Golding told the BBC that he has the right to make that decision and to form a Cabinet that represents the Jamaican people.

Golding has been a staunch supporter of maintaining Jamaica's sodomy law.

Gay sex is illegal in Jamaica, punishable by ten years in jail, with the possibility of hard labor.

Jason McFarlane, a spokesman for Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All Sexuals and Gays (J-FLAG), said Golding's remarks were likely to incite more violence against gays in the country.

The situation for gays in the Caribbean nation has been of concern to other Commonwealth countries and international human rights groups for several years following a number of violent attacks.

SAN FRANCISCO -- -- The California Supreme Court struck down the state's ban on same-sex marriage Thursday in a broadly worded decision that would invalidate virtually any law that discriminates on the basis of sexual orientation.

The 4-3 ruling declared that the state Constitution protects a fundamental "right to marry" that extends equally to same-sex couples. It tossed a highly emotional issue into the election year while opening the way for tens of thousands of gay people to wed in California, starting as early as mid-June.
The majority opinion, by Chief Justice Ronald M. George, declared that any law that discriminates on the basis of sexual orientation will from this point on be constitutionally suspect in California in the same way as laws that discriminate by race or gender, making the state's high court the first in the nation to adopt such a stringent standard.

The decision was a bold surprise from a moderately conservative, Republican-dominated court that legal scholars have long dubbed "cautious," and experts said it was likely to influence other courts around the country.

But the scope of the court's decision could be thrown into question by an initiative already heading toward the November ballot. The initiative would amend the state Constitution to prohibit same-sex unions.

The Sovereign's birthday has been celebrated in Canada since the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901).

May 24, Queen Victoria's birthday, was declared a holiday by the Legislature of the Province of Canada in 1845.

After Confederation, the Queen's birthday was celebrated every year on May 24 unless that date was a Sunday, in which case a proclamation was issued providing for the celebration on May 25.

After the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, an Act was passed by the Parliament of Canada establishing a legal holiday on May 24 in each year (or May 25 if May 24 fell on a Sunday) under the name Victoria Day.

The birthday of King Edward VII, who was born on November 9, was by yearly proclamation during his reign (1901-1910) celebrated on Victoria Day.

It was not an innovation to celebrate the birthday of the reigning sovereign on the anniversary of the birth of a predecessor. In Great Britain, the birthdays of George IV (1820-1830) and William IV (1830-1837) were celebrated on June 4, birthday of George III (1760-1820).

The birthday of King George V, who reigned from 1910 to 1935, was celebrated on the actual date, June 3 or, when that was a Sunday, by proclamation on June 4.

The one birthday of King Edward VIII, who reigned in 1936, was also celebrated on the actual date, June 23.

GH is probably the most commonly spread STD of the entire possible virus that you can get. Catching it can be prevented. Once you have it, its there forever but can be controlled. What is genital herpes?
Genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The disease can be bothersome. But if you are a healthy adult, you do not need to worry that it will cause serious problems.
Most people never have symptoms, or the symptoms are so mild that people do not know that they are infected. But in some people, the disease causes occasional outbreaks of itchy and painful sores in the genital area.
After the first outbreak, the herpes virus stays in the nerve cells below the skin and becomes inactive. It usually becomes active again from time to time, traveling back up to the skin and causing more sores. Things like stress, illness, a new sex partner, or menstruation may trigger a new outbreak. As time goes on, the outbreaks happen less often, heal faster, and don't hurt as much.
What causes genital herpes?
Genital herpes is caused by a virus-either the herpes simplex virus type 1 or the herpes simplex virus type 2. Either virus can cause sores on the lips (cold sores) and sores on the genitals. Type 1 more often causes cold sores, while type 2 more often causes genital sores.
You are more likely to get genital herpes if you:
Have more than one sex partner.
Have a high-risk partner (someone who has more than one sex partner or someone who has genital herpes).
Have unprotected sex (without condoms).
Have sex before age 18.
Have an impaired immune system.
Are a woman. Women are more likely than men to get infected.
What are the symptoms?
Symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. Most people never have any symptoms, or the symptoms are so mild that they may not notice them.
Some people have outbreaks of itchy and painful blisters on the penis or around the opening of the vagina. The blisters rupture and turn into oozing shallow sores that take up to 3 weeks to heal. Sometimes people, especially women, also have flu-like symptoms, such as fever, headache, and muscle aches. They may also notice an abnormal discharge and pain when they urinate.
Once you have been exposed to genital herpes, it takes 2 to 14 days to have your first outbreak.
Genital herpes infections can be severe in people with impaired immune systems, such as people with HIV.

It's been 8 years since she released her last album. This talented R&B singer has a vocal range that can be compared to Mariah Carey, a soulful sound that can rival Whitney Houston and the energy that she can match to any young artist today. Chanté Moore, married to Kenneth Latimore, in my eyes has been an underrated artist. Her first album came out in the 90's around the same time as Mariah Carey under Sony. As Mariah Carey was promoted as the singer with the high octave notes with great songs, Chanté Moore wasn't giving the same promotional push. Chanté Moore has a excellent track record of great collobrations with such artist as her husband and contributing to the Grammy winning Waiting to Exhale album.

Her new album called Love that woman comes out June 12th. First single to be release to radio on May 12th
